  • A minimum disability of 40% (Benchmark Disability) is needed to claim reservation for persons with specified disabilities.
  • The term "Persons with Disabilities (PwD)" replaces "Physically Handicapped (PH)".

Frequently asked questions

Is NEET compulsory for BPT admission?

Yes. Under the NCAHP regulations, no candidate is admitted to the BPT on any ground unless he/she has appeared in the NEET examination. Government-quota seats are then allotted by KEA as per its notified procedure.

What are the minimum marks needed in 10+2?

You must have passed 10+2 (or an equivalent examination) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology), with at least 50% in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

How is the merit list prepared?

The handbook states that admission is made on eligibility (minimum 50% in PCB) and a merit list based on 10+2 passing marks. For government-quota seats, KEA's notified merit and allotment rules apply.

What is the minimum age for admission?

You must have reached 17 years of age as on the date of admission in the current year.

Can I apply if I passed 10+2 through the National Open School or studied abroad?

Yes. A pass from the National Open School is accepted as a qualifying examination. Candidates who studied abroad must hold an equivalent qualification as determined by the Association of Indian Universities and the Equivalence Committee of the NCAHP, and must also meet the subject, marks and NEET criteria.

How long is the BPT, and is it semester-based?

The BPT is a 5-year programme: four academic years on an annual pattern, each ending in a University examination, followed by a one-year compulsory rotatory internship. The curriculum does not divide the years into semesters. See the Scheme of Study.

Is there lateral entry into the second year?

No lateral-entry route is specified in the NCAHP BPT regulations.

Can candidates with disabilities apply?

Yes, as per the PwD eligibility table above. A minimum disability of 40% (Benchmark Disability) is needed to claim reservation, and eligibility depends on the type and extent of disability.

What is the minimum attendance once I join?

At least 75% in theory and 85% in skills training (practical) to appear for the final examination. No relaxation is permitted on any ground, including illness. More on the Examination & Evaluation page.

Is the internship paid?

A stipend is paid to interns by the institute, as prescribed by the State Council. The internship lasts one year and begins only after you pass all subjects of all four years. See Internship.
